The Claire brooch refers to Claire Heliot (1866–1953), the celebrated German lion tamer whose performances combined elegance, discipline and extraordinary physical courage. Known for her calm authority in the arena, she would carry a lion weighing more than 150 kilograms on her shoulders at the end of her act. Her life blurred the boundaries between cultivated femininity and raw strength, between spectacle and genuine devotion to her animals.
In Walz’s interpretation, Claire embodies controlled power and emotional intensity. The brooch becomes a condensed symbol of loyalty, independence and quiet defiance, transforming an unexpected historical figure into a wearable narrative of strength.
