Liana Pattihis, a London-based jewelry artist, is celebrated for her innovative technique of fusing vitreous enamel onto movable bases such as chains. This distinctive approach produces raw, textured surfaces that challenge traditional notions of enamel’s perfection and fragility.

In her recent series Body and Soul, Pattihis explores resilience under pressure. By combining delicate materials such as porcelain and balloons, she draws parallels between their shared vulnerability to force and the human capacity for healing and renewal.

“Some of us break under pressure, while others pick up the pieces, heal, and become stronger,” she reflects.

Her Scentimental White collection continues this meditation, delving into themes of cultural symbolism and human unity. Comprising five brooches set against predominantly white backgrounds — evoking purity, innocence, death, and rebirth — the series contemplates the fragility of existence and the yearning for harmony in a world marked by conflict and division.

Pattihis’s work embraces imperfection and impermanence, echoing the Japanese philosophy of kintsugi — the art of mending the broken to reveal new beauty. Through her jewelry, she transforms damage into meaning, connecting body and soul through material and metaphor.

With a background in interior design, Pattihis earned her degree in Jewelry Design from Middlesex University in 2007. Her creations have been exhibited internationally and featured in numerous publications, affirming her as a leading voice in contemporary jewelry.
