His Kill Your Darling collection exemplifies this philosophy, rethinking traditional goldsmithing practices and merging them with innovative design strategies. By using unconventional materials and methods—such as crushing diamonds to imitate sugar or crafting necklaces that resemble sour apple rings—Haener invites viewers to reconsider their perceptions of preciousness and value.

Born in Lucerne, Switzerland, Haener’s artistic journey began with a classical goldsmith apprenticeship. He went on to study industrial design at GBS St. Gallen and completed a BA in XS Jewelry at HSLU Lucerne, shaping his distinctive approach to contemporary jewelry.

“Contemporary jewelry can be completely detached from the body and viewed as an art object. It can also be displayed on the body in public, where it can be seen and admired,” Haener explains, emphasizing the versatile nature of his creations.
