This is Giovanni Corvaja

Giovanni Corvaja was born in 1971 in Padua, where he completed his studies at the Pietro Selvatico State Art Institute, specializing in goldsmithing under the guidance of Francesco Pavan and Paolo Maurizio. He later continued his education abroad, graduating from the Royal College of Art in London in 1992.

“It all started with my passion and fascination for metals. Even as a child, I found them captivating — the way they feel to the touch, the way they reflect light, the way they so quickly absorb the warmth of our hands. Their malleability and ductility were miracles to me. Gold is my obsession — a symbol of evolution and perfection, embodying the finest virtues of nature and creation. For me, working with it is not a choice but a necessity — a pursuit to gain the deepest possible understanding of its essence.”

This lifelong passion for metals has led Corvaja to unite his artistic vision with an unparalleled level of technical experimentation. In the early 1990s, he developed a groundbreaking system that enables him to reduce gold and platinum to threads one-fifth the diameter of a human hair. Through this method, he transforms precious metals into fibers — delicate, luminous, and soft as fur — redefining the boundaries of what jewelry can be.
